DECEMBER  CAMP OUT AT
BLUEBERRY HILL RV RESORT
Judy Stewart, Newsletter Editor

Well, here goes my first attempt as Editor of the Lake Eola Sams Newsletter, hope I didn’t leave
out anything important from our December 2011 campout.

There were a total of 15 rigs attending our Christmas campout, 12 arrived on Thursday and 3 on
Friday.  It was really great to see Mildred Beck and Joan Cotter back camping with us again.
Mildred’s son, Carlton Fountain, joined them for the weekend.  Shortly after hooking up, Bob &
Judy Stewart, along with Mike and Pattie Lancaster, departed for Lazydays to pick up the chairs
to complete the dinette renovation originally started in late January.  (It’s great to finally have the
project finished.)  Our hosts, Bill/Chris Catron, Morris/Joann Durrance, Charlie/Jenova Hoelscher
and Ralph/Jane Reeves, had the weekend itinerary board set up  in front of Charlie Hoelscher’s
rig so everyone could see what, when and where everything was going on.

Thursday afternoon some played cards, some visited, while others took naps or whatever.  Many
couples went to dinner at Beef O’Bradys, food and service was excellent.  After dinner, members
played cards (Play Nine and Pinochle), Nancy Harper, Jenova Hoelscher, Kay Williams, Linda
Woodward and Judy Stewart played Bingo held by the Campground.  Jenova Hoelscher won 2
times, Linda Woodward and Judy Stewart each won once.

Friday morning breakfast was at Charlie Hoelscher’s rig, with the men frying bacon, sausage,
and eggs and various delicious side dishes prepared by our other great cooks completed the
meal.  Mildred Beck said that Joan Cotter had to go home as her father was taken to the hospital,
she would try to come back later if she could, but it didn’t look good.  Later  many went to the
Clubhouse to play cards, Debbie Weston taught us a new card game—Nickel/Nickel (or 3/13),
others played Play Nine and Pinochle. In the afternoon, our Chapter played Bingo at the Pavilion
with popcorn and lemonade for refreshments.  Winners received  great prizes (& some cash) and
everyone had a great time!  Dinner was at the Old World Restaurant in Floral City, which was
enjoyed by everyone.  Various card games finished off the evening.

Saturday breakfast in the Clubhouse was a feast with bacon, sausage, pancakes and eggs any
way you wanted, along with sausage gravy & biscuits and much more to satisfy everyone’s
appetite!.  After breakfast and clean-up, our Chapter meeting was held.  Following the meeting,
members played cards until time for a Social Hour (beverages and pretzels only) at Charlie
Hoelscher’s rig.  Chris Catron announced that dinner would be at 5:00, a table is set up for
Christmas cards and two tables for the gifts (one for men and one for women).  The hosts did a
wonderful job of decorating for the Christmas Season, it was beautiful.  Bob & Reba Ward joined
us for dinner and the gift exchange.  The hosts prepared the turkey, ham, pork roast with the rest
of the Chapter chefs providing the trimmings for a sumptuous Christmas dinner.  The hosts and
the “chefs” did an absolutely outstanding job on dinner, as Paul Beck once quoted in a previous
Newsletter, “If anyone goes away hungry from any of our meals, it’s not because there wasn’t
enough food!”  Following clean-up, we had our “Chinese Gift Exchange” with lots of gifts and
many gifts changing hands several times.  It was a fun time with lots of laughs.  Following the
Christmas festivities, many played cards again.  Bill Catron announced that everyone would be
on their own for breakfast on Sunday morning as many members wanted to leave early to go to
church or get on their way home early.  Many thanks to our hosts, Bill & Chris Catron, Morris &
Joanne Durrance, Charlie & Jenova Hoelscher and Ralph & Jane Reeves for putting together
such a wonderful Christmas campout (a job well done as usual).

A VERY  MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HEALTHY, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL.

NEW & PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS

Please feel free to come join us for the weekend.  You can have more fun with us than you can
by yourself at home, and you get another chance to use and exercise you coach.

Special Note:

Please keep the following members and their
families in our thoughts and prayers through these
difficult times:

Joan Cotter’s father passed away on 12/22/11.

Jenova Hoelscher’s mother passed away on Tuesday, 1/2/12 about 9:30 PM.

Phylis Hager’s mother is back in assisted living.  Hospice has been brought in and she is
       not doing  very well either.

Mildred Beck finally had the long postponed hip surgery on  12/20/11 and is currently in

Rehab.  I spoke with her on Tuesday, 1/3/12, and she said she was supposed to go have

the staples removed in the next day or so and hopes to go home soon.  She sounded great

on the phone.

Debbie Weston, I spoke with Joe Tuesday, 1/3/12,  Afternoon, he said that Debbie was

having chest pains again over the weekend.  She is scheduled for a stress test Thursday

and Friday (1/5 & 1/6).
