MINUTES FOR JANUARY 16, 2010
President Charlie Hoelscher called the meeting to order at 9:12 A.M. on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Wekiva
Falls RV Resort in Sorrento, Florida.
Chaplain Bill Catron opened the meeting with a prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Roll Call indicated we had 12 rigs, which included 2 visiting rigs, Mike & Patti Lancaster and Barry & Adriana
Smith. JB & Phylis Hager, Nancy Harper, Ralph & Jane Reeves and Leo & Linda Woodward drove in for the
meeting and dinners.
Charlie Hoelscher introduced our visitors, Mike & Patti Lancaster (friends of Chet & Lucy Florence) and Barry &
Adriana Smith (invited by Earl Howe).
Minutes of Last Meeting (Secretary): Judy Stewart asked if there were any additions or corrections to the
December minutes other than changing “Administrative” to “Executive”. No changes were forthcoming. Jim
Coffman made a motion that we accept the minutes with noted correction and Chris Catron seconded the motion.
January minutes will be distributed to all members for review prior next month’s meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Bob Tobin reported that the balance as of the end of December was $1,946.97, which
includes the escrow fund. Ralph Reeves made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and was seconded by Jim
Coffman.
Committee Reports:
Bob Stewart, Wagon Master, Bob talked about the Winter Samboree in Dunnelleon and said that if anyone needed
directions they could look on our website or call him. He asked for a show of hands of those planning to attend, 12
indicated they were attending. Bob advised everyone that our March camp out will be back here at Wekiva Falls
and the fee will be $23/night. He indicated that we will have the use of the kitchen for the weekend. There was a
discussion regarding the problems encountered this weekend and what would be done to resolve them at the
March camp out.
Bill Catron reminded everyone that when we are scheduled to camp at Ocala Sun, the hosts must send a schedule
to them one month prior to the campout so they can incorporate it into their monthly schedule. Bill Catron showed
everyone the “L’il Red Wagon” that is to be used for the raffle at the Winter Samboree in February. Charlie asked
for volunteers to be responsible for collecting the goods (no wine or breakable items) and coordinate the raffle.
Nancy Harper (chairman), Joan Cotter and Mildred Beck volunteered. If you are not attending the Samboree, you
may give $10 to Nancy to buy items for the raffle; those attending should bring items to the Samboree.
Don Harper, Web Master, Don is out sick, but Nancy related that there were no pictures from the December
campout forwarded to Don. Bill Catron said that it was extremely hard to email pictures. It was suggested that the
Chapter purchase 2 USB Sticks to be used to transport pictures to Don. Bill Catron made a motion to purchase 2
USB Sticks to be used to get pictures to Web Master and Jim Coffman seconded it. The motion passed
unanimously.
Paul Beck, Newsletter Editor, Paul asked that each host send him an email with the menu for the next camp out and
what everyone is bringing so he can put it into the newsletter. He also thanked Bob and Judy Stewart for their
good work.
Jenova Hoelscher, Historian, Jenova reported that the Book is here for everyone to see. She said she needs a
new camera—hers just died.
Chris Catron, Sunshine Lady, Chris said that cards were sent to Earl & Mary Howe and JB Hager. If anyone wants a
card sent to let her know.
Correspondence:
Received thank you letter from Dogs for Deaf for their $300 donation along with patches for all members. They
also sent a Roster to be completed and returned to them.
It was noted that we should have received a thank you letter from the Astatula Worship Center for our food
donation, probably sent to Earl Howe as he was president at the time of the donation.
Old Business: Charlie asked Fran Blanchet to report what she had found out about getting new lighter weight
(100% cotton) shirts. She said that she had found new shirts; the cost would be $16/each for a minimum order of
12 and an additional $4 if you wanted your name embroidered it. After a brief discussion, it was determined that
the shirts must be hunter green, the men want pockets on their shirts and the women want ladies shirts with no
pockets. Morris Durrance will help Fran with this. Please see Fran after the meeting to order your shirts. Bob
suggested that we should charge the same price for the remaining shirts in inventory as the new shirts, President
Charlie Hoelscher agreed.
Charlie thanked Anita Coffman and Donna Tobin for the Christmas ornaments and gift boxes they made for the
December camp out.
There was a discussion about various charities for future donations: Chet Florence mentioned that State Good
Sams donate to Florida Guide Dogs, and Linda Woodward suggested Canine Companions was very worthy of
consideration.
New Business:
Jim Coffman said we need to leave at 4:30 for our 5:00 reservation at Outback.
Chris Catron said that the Chapter should make a donation to the Haitian Relief Fund, followed by a discussion.
Ralph Reese made a motion to donate $300 to the Salvation Army to benefit the Haitian Relief Fund and Jenova
Hoelscher seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Chris Catron and Linda Woodward will get
details and be responsible for getting the Chapter’s check to the Salvation Army.
Judy Stewart reminded J. Cotter, the Stallings, the Tobin’s and the Woodward’s that their Good Sam membership
will expire shortly. When they renew, please notify Judy Stewart of their new expiration date so she can update the
Roster.
Judy also asked that all ladies planning to attend the Winter Samboree get together after the meeting to plan the
meals.
Charlie brought up the possibility of the Chapter beginning to pay for the meat only for future camp outs. After a
lengthy discussion, everyone agreed. Paul Beck made a motion that effective with the March camp out, the
Chapter will reimburse the host up to $30 for the cost of the meat only for the main meal provided a receipt is
presented and Bill Catron seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.
Birthdays/Anniversaries: We wished Happy Birthday to Mildred Beck, Phylis Hager, Bob Stewart, Cathy Stallings
and Paul Beck. We also wished Happy Anniversary to Bob & Judy Stewart.

success.
